Mark Fitzsimmons

Yesterday I met Mark Fitzsimmons in Allwoodley. Mark is interested in Tarot (and read mine) and had a history of predicting events, including the death of his Grandmothers.
He was very interesting to talk to but was in no way 'spectacular' in terms of being interesting to look at, this got me thinking about how to present someone photographically who isn't exhibitionist -and looks like anyone you might come across in the street, in a visually interesing light, I also need to think about using text, and what text to put.

I must go to them

I've contacted Leeds Viking Society, Leeds Nudist Society, Leeds Paranormal Society, numerous people on gumtree including a fortune teller and nymphomaniac amongst others (one of which I'm meeting tomorrow under some rather peculiar circumstances) -One guy I wanted in the project is actually in prison for Sexual Abuse (I thought he was just nerdy and a bit weird) http://www.thenorthernecho.co.uk/news/3945796._Sex_slave_master__jailed_for_cult_abuse/
and the directors of Leeds Zombie film festival and a a woman on the Leeds TV scene WITH NO JOY :(
On the plus side I have a hammer horor film director in London that wants to meet me, I'm seeing Anna Fur Laxis -burlesque dancer & pony girl n the 28th, and Sean Black wants to be involved.

I've realised that I actually need to go to the events and places these people go to rather that expecting them to get back to me -collar them, as it were. I'm going to try and find the pigeon lady in town tomorrow and also check out the collectors section in Leeds City Museum -see who I can rustle up there.

I have always been fascinated by people who live, behave and act differently from the conventions of our society. I'm interested in meeting and photographing people who are interesting to know, and particularly to look at. People with unusual hobbies, lifestyles, attitudes, beliefs, haircuts, habits -anything goes.
The portraits aim to explore the lines between difference, eccentricity and madness with which society shapes and alters our judgement of people; and hopefully make people reassess how they feel about the weird and wonderful members of British society.
